Wednesday, September 8th, 2010We were recently hired by a new client, Polara Golf. They develop products for recreational golfers and are on a mission to make golf more fun. Cara has been working closely with the company on all of their PR efforts. She just attended the Las Vegas PGA Show with them and made some great golf connections. We are very excited to be working with this company and the many opportunities that will come in the golf and sports industries. Check back for more updates on Twist Agency and Polara Golf.
It’s an Online World and I am an Online Girl
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010When I want to find a movie…it’s online, when I look up directions…it’s online, when I want to find a business…it’s online, when I want to talk with my friends…it’s online, when I want to stalk my competitors…it’s online.
Ok, you get it. Everything is done online. 2010 is a new year and certainly brings new ways of communicating. Through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogs, we can find information the second it happens. There are 400 million Facebook users worldwide, 70 percent of them being outside the U.S. People now turn to Twitter to get the latest news feeds as opposed to CNN.com or watching it on TV. Blogs are becoming a main source of reading material versus the standard hard back chapter book.
I spend over 8 hours a day on the computer, 7 are for work and the other hour is for updating my social media networks. As Madonna once sang, “It’s a material world and I am a material girl.” Well times they are a changin’ and ”It’s an online world and I am an online girl.”
If you build it, they will come
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010It took me three years, four months and 29 days to decide that I wanted to own my own business. It was a dream that I started to have over and over again working at other agencies, for other people. It was the man that was getting me down. He didn’t take my opinion into consideration and he made me stay in the office for hours at a time when the work was already finished. The man got me down.
I finally had a realization that I didn’t need the man in my life in order to succeed. So I did what any sane, independent person would do - I cut the man out of my life. I joined an industry where he didn’t exist – the ‘I own my own business’ industry.
It was official; I had a business license and an LLC to back up the fact that I didn’t need the man. It only added to the fact that I am now the WOman and I call the shots for myself and for my business, Twist Agency. Sure it’s a scary thought, but not as scary as once being controlled by someone whom I never met (ala the man).
Like the movie, Field of Dreams, “if you build it, they will come,” I truly believe that if you put out work that you are passionate about, people will see it and want to be a part of it. The work has to be original in its entirety and should be garnered towards people and services that you believe in 100 percent. The man no longer has me down, the work is all mine. Ask yourself a question, what has the man done for you lately?
